Spanish artist Victor De La Fuente passed away on July 2, he was 83.
Although he might not have become as famous as some of his European contemporaries, he was a master of the comic art. I remember how my favourite artists Jean (Moebius) Giraud, John Buscema, Al Williamson used to praise his work, and it lead me to check on his work...and what a shock it was! From the post apocalyptic worlds of Haxtur, Haggarth and Matai Dor, to the great westerns like Amargo, Sunday and Les Gringos, he would deliver a believable work, epic and carefully detailed.
Anyone aware of his work would look up to him for inspiration and greatness. His natural way of drawing realistic people and animals had no equal, and was only matched by the raw power of his inking.
He will be missed
